Providing high-quality research materials.

Cell Sourcing Program

The Cell Sourcing Program was created at Blood Centers of the Pacific with the goal of providing blood derived products and services for clients including researchers, diagnostic laboratories, pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Currently more than 50 clients throughout the Bay Area and other states are receiving products and services though the program.

Blood Centers of the Pacific provides high-quality research materials which are residuals from collections from healthy donors. These donors have passed a standard blood donor health history questionnaire and are tested for infectious diseases including HIV, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, and HTLV I/II. Notification of any positive screening test results is available.

Per Regulatory guidelines, residual materials from blood donor collection will be supplied to researchers de-identified (unlinked) so that researchers do not have access to any donor identifiers. A signed agreement between the researcher and Blood Centers of the Pacific is completed to ensure that donor confidentiality is maintained. All research products should always be considered potentially infectious, and investigators should practice UNIVERSAL PRECAUTION when handling them.

Blood Centers of the Pacific can provide research products linked to donor identifying information with an IRB approved protocol. All requests involving human subject research is reviewed by Blood Systems Clinical Trials and Research Review Committee.

For more information on obtaining linked samples or testing services as part of an IRB approved research study or clinical trial, please contact:
