Meet the Members of the Board of Directors

In each upcoming issue of Lifelines, we will spotlight a member of the Blood Centers of the Pacific’s Board of Directors. The Board is made up of community leaders, including many physicians, who volunteer their time to help direct BCP in the areas of management, finance and recruitment.

The Chairman of BCP’s Board of Directors is Thomas Jackson, M.D. Dr. Jackson, a pathologist, is the Director of Clinical Laboratories for California Pacific Medical Center’s Department of Pathology.

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dr. Jackson earned his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Wisconsin Medical School. Dr. Jackson came to San Francisco for his internship and residency at Presbyterian Hospital. He then went on to become a Fellow in Blood Banking at the University of California San Francisco Medical Society and Irwin Memorial Blood Bank.

Dr. Jackson has served on the Irwin Memorial Blood Bank (later BCP) Board of Directors since 1986.
