RECIPIENT SPOTLIGHT

Little Eloise, Cancer Survivor

Once a U.S. Senator and former Washington state governor, Dan Evans knows that a family’s political clout is no protection from life-threatening illness. Two years ago, his granddaughter Eloise, 3 years of age, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Eloise had a large tumor growing from the back of her mouth to the base of her skull. Chemotherapy, radiation and surgery were needed to shrink the tumor. Blood transfusions helped her through the months of treatment. Today, she is a playful 5-year-old.

“It’s nice to see that she’s back to where she was before– heavier, taller and just as full of life,” said her grandfather.
