by Lisa Bloch

Baseball fever is in full swing and the San Francisco Giants are helping blood donors Make a Giant Difference during the month of June!

Throughout the month of June, the Giants and BCP will partner to increase blood donations for Northern California.

our fans to become blood donors.”

During several of the Giants’ home games, the importance of blood donation will be spotlighted in PA and scoreboard announcements, at the Giants Community Booth and in the “Community Spotlight,” a short public service announcement that’s aired between the 3rd and 4th innings! Fans will be encouraged to sign blood donor pledge cards or to donate blood at a BCP site or blood mobile.

“The Giants have a long tradition of community service,” said Staci Slaughter, VP of Public Affairs for the SF Giants. “Many of our players and staff know first-hand the importance of blood donation and we’re excited to help motivate our fans to become blood donors.”

In years past, the SF Giants have partnered with BCP, including an awareness campaign with former Giants pitcher, Mark Gardner, whose wife used several pints of blood during a lifesaving organ transplant.

“We’re thrilled to once again partner with the San Francisco Giants to help save lives,” said Nora Hirschler, M.D., President of BCP. “We’re hoping Make a Giant Difference Month will help us avert another summertime blood shortage.”

So be sure to Make a Giant Difference this summer by donating blood!
