Providian Financial - A Good Corporate Citizen

Late this fall, Blood Centers of the Pacific had the good fortune of striking up a partnership with the San Francisco-based, Providian Financial. One of the 10 largest bankcard providers in the nation, Providian Financial serves a broad, diversified market with loan products that include credit cards, revolving lines of credit, home loans, secured credit cards, and value added services.

To help BCP’s recruitment efforts, Providian generously agreed to fund a public service advertising campaign about the need for blood donations. The campaign, which includes both television and radio ads, was developed by the advertising agency, McCann Erickson. The ads are timed to run during the most critical time for blood donations, the weeks around Christmas and New Year.

Running ads on television and radio enables us to spread our message of the importance of blood donations to thousands of people. But securing ad space is extremely expensive. Without Providian’s generosity, BCP would not have been able to buy the air-time. Providian has proven itself to be a truly good corporate citizen to the patients of Northern California.
